MANY years ago I left a Christmas Eve party in London and and found that my car had been broken into and all the presents I had bought for my family and friends had been stolen.

IT IS a perplexing time, observing our young moving from childhood into the world that we have fashioned for them. And I use those last words advisedly. It is the world that we have created that they now inherit.

IT USED to be the case that the airing of extreme and ill-informed opinions was restricted to a group of cronies propping up the bar in the local pub or cabbies projecting their world view pronouncements over their shoulders, as caricatured in the movies of decades past.

IN MY self-appointed role as scourge of the jobsworth and the politically correct, I update you on the latest excesses of those grey people that inhabit some bleak parallel universe. Not that my denunciation will have much effect until we man the barricades of reason and pull down their ivory towers - how's that for a mixed metaphor?

I FIRST realised that the banking system wasn't philanthropic 30 odd years ago when, after years of my being in credit, my bank bounced a cheque, citing "insufficient funds."
