Boy racers could have cars seized
ANTISOCIAL drivers who race down a Marlow street have been warned that if they do not behave they could have their cars confiscated.
The move is part of a crackdown on under age drinking and rowdy behaviour around the Pound Lane and Higginson Park area, focusing in particular on youths showing off their cars.
Last weekend, officers patrolling the area took details of several young drivers and warned them about their behaviour.
If they continue to ignore the police, they will have their vehicles confiscated.
The drivers will then have to pay a fine and a storage charge for every day the cars are in the possession of the police before they can recover the vehicles.
Suzanne Brown, who sits on Marlow Town Council, has been raising awareness of the issue.
She said that on weekend nights young drivers gather in the car park of Court Garden Leisure Centre in Pound Lane to show off their cars.
She said: "On Friday and Saturday nights youngsters show up in their cars at around 8.30pm.
"When we're around they behave normally, but as soon as the police go off duty at 10.30pm they drive along Pound Lane like a bat out of hell.
"What we're trying to do is tell people that this isn't on.
"One of these days someone will be crossing the road and will get hit."
Officers also seized booze from under age drinkers around Higginson Park and the Court Garden Leisure Centre.
Letters were sent to their parents, along with advice on how to talk to their children about the issue of drinking.

Of course not! As a result there will probably be a police chase which will mean the car speeding all over the town followed by a police car!
Perhaps they sould consider putting some traffic calming measures like road humps in the road or better still install a speed camera and make a profit from the yobbos!

Don't bother giving parents advice they are probably worse than their children. Most of them don't know what the kids get up to anyway and don't care as long as they have quiet life .

Sooner the boy racers wrap themselves and their car around a tree the better, and the safer the roads will be, just pity the poor parents getting the call to say what has happened to their little Marlovian darling.

Pound Lane already has speed humps in a number of places. They will break their suspension before the police get a chance to confiscate their cars.

By sexiest (Unless boy racers turn you on) I assume you mean sexist. Also, you can cruise in a 147 because, being an Alfa it would break down and the cruising would be because it is running on just the one cylinder.

What twaddle, there are a multitude of offences they can be charged with, It would be unlawful to sieze their cars unless first having been convicted by a Court. It is not for the Police to be Judge Jury and Executioner.

i love these story threads. From the seizure of boy racers toys to the reliability of the Alfa Romeo range. Mind you, having had one for 6 months several years ago, they're not very good are they.

Alfas are certainly no worse than their direct competitors. Having done over 100k in 2 Alfa's over the last 5 years, suffering only 1 breakdown I don't think is too bad - even that was due to hitting a rock and puncturing the sump.
The Bavarian Machine I have had for a year has been absolute dire, left me stranded twice, suffered numerous ongoing intermittent problems which still aren't solved. But we won't let that get in the way of public perception of a brand and stereotypical images of 30 years ago eh.
