A spate of burglaries have happened in the last two weeks prompting police to take action.

Thames Valley Police is reporting a surge in overnight burglaries where vehicles have been stolen.

Police say the burglaries have been in Wooburn Green, Marlow, Taplow and Chalfont St Peter.

A spokesman said: "Over the last two weeks there has been an increase in overnight burglaries where vehicles have been stolen.

"Offenders have been entering the properties through insecure front and rear doors, when inside they target car keys, wallets and handbags.

"They have then gone on to steal high powered German vehicles such as a BMW and Mercedes Benz."

The police force has issued advice to drivers to prevent their cars from being stolen.

Some useful tips include keeping doors locked at all times, using window locks, locking your gates to stop people having free access to the rear or side of your home.

Police have also said drivers can consider additional physical security such as steering wheel locks.

Thames Valley Police said: "We have heard feedback while circulating crime prevention advice that some members of public have garages yet opt out of keeping their cars in them, if you do have a garage you can utilise, this will greatly prevent vehicle theft.

"Consider CCTV for driveway if you have not done so already."
